Nnenna Agim, MD
Dr. Nnenna G. Agim is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at UT Southwestern, with a primary focus on the subspecialty of Pediatric Dermatology. She serves as the Division and Fellowship Director for this subspecialty. Following training at the University of Houston where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and minor in Psychology, she attended medical school at UT Southwestern (class of 2005). Thereafter, she completed internship in Internal Medicine at Parkland Hospital and a dermatology Residency at UT Southwestern (where she was a chief resident), followed by a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Baylor Medical College/Texas Children's Hospital, prior to joining the UTSW dermatology faculty in 2010. Here, she is privileged to provide the best possible care to pediatric patients with dermatologic conditions from any background as one of only 3 such subspecialists in the DFW metroplex. She enjoys teaching medical students, pediatric, dermatology, med-peds, and oralmaxillofacial surgery dental residents, and pre-COVID, hosted high school and college students interested in medicine. She has trained two fellows in pediatric dermatology who plan to remain in the state of Texas, extending care to a largely underserved pediatric population. Her interests include patient/family education, atopic and contact dermatitis, genodermatoses, pediatric dermatologic surgery and vascular anomalies, amongst others. She is a founding member of the Vascular Anomalies Multidisciplinary Team clinic at Children's Health Dallas. She reviews articles for the Pediatric Dermatology, JAMA Dermatology, Contact Dermatitis, Clinical and Experimental Dermatology and the European Journal of Medical Genetics and has published several articles in most of the same journals. She has been named a 'Best Pediatric Specialist' and/or 'Mom-Approved Doctor' in D Magazine from 2015 to date, and a Super Doctor of Texas since 2019. She lectures locally and nationally, keeping active in Society for Pediatric Dermatology committees and the American Academy of Dermatology. When she is not at UTSW, she serves as chef, household manager, homework czar and more to her three sons, who keep her on her toes. Situation permitting, she escapes to her other interests in botany/gardening/landscaping, architecture, art and music to stay grounded.
