Oranu Ibekie, MD

Born in Enugu, Nigeria, Oranu Ibekie graduated Medical School from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria, in 1990. He emigrated to the United States in 1995 and graduated from the Family Medicine Residency Program of The Methodist Hospitals/ Indiana University School of Medicine in 2001. He opened his practice in Schererville IN and soon grew to a group practice involving 4 physicians and 3 NPs which was then sold in 2009. He set up the Ibekie Foundation which now runs clinics in Merrillville and Morocco, Indiana. He currently serves as the Medical Director, Ibekie Foundation Clinics. He holds leadership positions in multiple areas of Medicine in affiliated medical groups.
This award winning physician was chosen by his peers as the Most Outstanding Resident in 2000 as awarded by the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians. He was recently appointed an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine. An avid apiarist in his spare time, he also is involved with medical missions to clinics in rural Liberia and Nigeria. He is married to Nneka and they have 3 children.
