Henry Ellis , MD

Dr. Henry Bone Ellis, Jr. began to pursue a career in pediatric sports medicine following an orthopedic residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. After completing his sports medicine surgery fellowship at the Steadman Clinic and pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at SickKids Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Dr. Ellis began his pediatric sports medicine practice at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital as an assistant professor at the University of Texas Southwestern. To compliment his clinical practice, Dr. Ellis is also a team physician for the United States Ski & Snowboard Association, an assistant Team Physician for the Dallas Stars, a team physician for Rick Reedy High School, and a medical consultant for the Dallas Mavericks Youth Academy. He also has a strong interest in research and clinical care related to active youth. He is involved with several multi-center collaborations including Research in OsteoChondritis dissecans of the Knee (or ROCK). His main research interest includes a large quality improvement initiative on pediatric arthroscopic complications (PRISM-RAC), the anatomy and biomechanics of the use of the iliotibial band in pediatric knee surgery, and the importance of psychology and patient related outcomes measures in pediatric and adolescent knee and hip conditions.
