The long-term goals of my research program are to advance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms that contribute to the neural regulation of hypertension, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. We are fascinated by the complex neural circuits that play a pivotal role in neural autonomic and endocrine regulation of metabolic physiology. Specifically, we seek to identify the origin of brain angiotensin II formation, molecular mechanisms of the brain renin-angiotensin system over-activation in pathophysiological conditions. Our laboratory is also interested in the neural circuitry mechanisms regulating blood pressure, blood glucose and metabolism.
