Lydia Lopez Manzanares, Head of the Movement Disorders Unit. Neurology Department, Hospital Universitario de La Princesa
- In 2003 she finished the Neurology Residency at the Hospital Universitario Gregorio Marañon.
- Since then, she has worked as Neurologist in different public and private hospitals, and in 2012 obtained by public competitive examination the place of Neurologist in the Neurology Department of the Hospital Universitario de La Princesa, working currently as the main coordinator of the Movement Disorders Unit (MDU), where she performs her daily care, teaching and research job.
- Since July 2015 she was granted allowing to intensify her research activity.
- She participates in medical undergraduate training as Honorary Professor of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
- She is currently the manager and tutor for residents of Neurology since 2010.
- She was elected as member of the National Commission of the Specialty of Neurology at the Ministry of Health in 2014.
- She is member of the Commission of Parkinson, within the Strategic Plan of Neurology of the Ministry of Health in the Community of Madrid since 2013.
- She is a Madrid Association of Neurology board member since 2012. Chair Movement Disorders Group since 2019.
- Member of the Movement Disorder Society.
- She has participated as author and coordinator of books and guide manuals related to Parkinson's disease (PD), especially to care and non-pharmacological support treatments for health professionals and caregivers.
- As a Movement Disorder Unit Head, one of her main objectives is to enhance the figure of specialized nursing in PD.
- She has participated in more than twenty clinical trials about movement disorders, and her next goal are restorative treatments, in order to achieve the slowment of the progression of symptoms.
