Sixth Annual Simulation-Based Quality Improvement and Research Forum (RP2305A)

May 17, 2023

The sixth annual Simulation-Based Quality Improvement and Research Forum is offered to faculty, residents, medical students, nurses, engineers, researchers, and staff members to increase interprofessional collaboration in simulation, provide guidance in translating simulation training to clinical outcomes and to showcase high quality simulation-related education, research, as well as quality improvement projects. This forum is designed to bring these teams together, to learn with and from one another. This forum will create a collaborative, safe learning environment, such that learners (from a variety of professions) will have an opportunity to learn about efforts across campus, share their own projects, gain others' feedback on ideas, and receive mentorship. The format will entail a KeyNote speaker, abstract presentations with an interactive Q&A, panel discussion on emerging ideas in simulation, poster sessions with interactive Q&A, and breakout workshops.

Target Audience

This program is designed for Faculty, Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Nurses, Medical Students, Engineers, Allied Health Educators; Researchers; and other healthcare staff

Learning Objectives

At the end of this symposium, attendees will be able to:

  1. List projects, initiatives, or studies that use simulation-based education to improve patient outcomes.
  2. Develop and implement simulation-based innovative interventions, both in the a simulated environment as well as insitu, that shape learners’ competency or improve patient care.
  3. Describe and discuss methods as well as factors which promote successful collaboration on research efforts at UTSW and beyond in a variety of areas related to healthcare simulation.
