Caitlin Siropaides, D.O.
Dr. Siropaides is a practicing palliative care specialist who provides care in both inpatient and outpatient care settings at Clements University Hospital and Simmons Cancer Center. Her education and medical training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center had significant emphasis on communication skills training, partly due to the local faculty development in this field. Through their mentorship, Dr. Siropaides has developed a focus of practice on providing communication skills education as part of her role as Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine and Palliative Care at UTSW, and Program Director of UTSW VitalTalk, an evidence-based communication skills training method. Dr. Siropaides has developed communication skills and education expertise through fellowship training, masters course “Teaching Communication Skills” at the University of Pittsburgh, and completion of the UTSW Academic Southwestern Program in Revitalizing Education in 2017. Most recently, she led an institutional initiative to train 24 multispecialty care providers in VitalTalk, and was among 11 faculty to complete an intensive Faculty Development course to provide VitalTalk courses at UTSW. Through her leadership, nearly 280 undergraduate and graduate learners have received Vital Talk communication skills training in 2019. She enjoys teaching palliative care symptom management and communication skills and hopes to enhance general practice of palliative care by inpatient and outpatient providers. Her clinical practice emphasizes holistic care focusing on not just medical, but also psychological, spiritual, and familial needs.
