Nilesh Verma, MD
Nilesh Verma, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I specializes in colorectal cancer, gastric, esophageal and pancreatic cancer.
Dr. Verma earned his medical degree at the American University of Antigua College of Medicine in Antigua and Barbuda. He completed a residency in internal medicine at MedStar Health in Baltimore, Maryland, and gained advanced training in hematology and oncology through a fellowship at St. Louis University Medical Center in Missouri. He also completed a research internship at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine, Dr. Verma joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022. Previously, he practiced at the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida, and at Texas Oncology in Austin, Texas.
Nilesh Verma is deeply committed to advancing understanding of gastrointestinal oncology, particularly focusing on young onset colorectal cancer, and championing the integration of precision medicine into cancer care. Through an interdisciplinary approach, he aims to identify key genetic and epigenetic determinants that contribute to gastrointestinal cancer, with a specific emphasis on tailoring treatment strategies for this unique patient population. His passion for precision medicine has been a driving force in his career. He is dedicated to bridging gap between genomics and clinical practice, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to unravel the molecular heterogeneity within GI cancer.
When he’s not working, Dr. Verma enjoys spending time with his wife and his young daughter, watching football, traveling, hiking, trying new restaurants around the DFW area.
