John Herring, M.D., FRCS (Ire. Hon.)
Dr. Herring is a native of Vernon, Texas. He completed his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas, Austin, graduating with High Honors in 1963, and earning his medical degree from Baylor University College of Medicine in 1967. Dr. Herring completed an internship at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in 1968 followed by completion of a residency in the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic program in 1973. He joined the staff at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in 1975, and served as chief of staff from 1978 until 2012, and continues as chief of staff emeritus. Dr. Herring is a professor in the department of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Herring is very active in professional associations including the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, the Scoliosis Research Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
