Michael Kelly, MD, MSc
Michael P. Kelly, MD, MSc is Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, San Diego and Director of Scoliosis and Spinal Deformities at Rady Children's Hospital. He completed two fellowships in Spinal Deformity surgery at Washington University in Saint Louis where he served as Director of Spine Research and Fellowship Director. Dr. Kelly is chair-elect for the AO Spinal Deformity Knowledge Forum and a member of the International Spine Study Group, the Harms Study Group, and is currently Deputy Editor at Spine. His research interest is in a precision-medicine approach to spine surgery with over 200 peer-reviewed publications and Best Paper awards from the Cervical Spine Research Society and the Scoliosis Research Society. The current focus of his work includes optimizing sagittal alignment and understanding the immunologic response to surgical trauma and how it may relate to outcomes from surgery.
