Laurentiu Pop, MD
Dr. Pop is a cancer immunologist in UT Southwestern’s Department of Radiation Oncology. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology as well as a certified principal investigator by the Academy of Clinical Research Professionals. After earning his medical degree and completing his oncology residency at Romania’s Craiova University, he trained in cancer immunobiology during a postdoctoral fellowship at UT Southwestern, where he subsequently joined as faculty. His research focuses on the immunomodulatory effects of radiation therapy, particularly exploring how innate immunity DNA‑sensing pathways, monoclonal antibodies, immunoconjugates, and vaccines can improve cancer therapy. He has co-authored high-impact articles in journals such as Bioactive Materials, Science Immunology, European Urology, PNAS, and Clinical Cancer Research, contributing to clinical trials that combine stereotactic ablative radiotherapy with immunotherapy in genitourinary cancers. Passionate about translational research and clinical innovation, Dr. Pop actively integrates laboratory discoveries into patient-centered cancer treatment strategies.
