Andrew Jamieson, Ph.D.

Andrew Jamieson, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Lyda Hill Department of Bioinformatics whose lab is focused creating AI-driven technologies for improving patient care, physician performance, and addressing challenging research questions. Andrew is also a member of the leadership team in the Bioinformatics Core Facility (BICF) spearheading image analysis and machine learning projects with a variety of collaborators across campus.
Raised in Plano, TX, and graduate of Plano East Senior High school, Andrew went on to complete his BA in Physics with honors from the University of Chicago in 2006. He remained at the University of Chicago to complete his Ph.D. in Medical Physics in 2012, training under Prof. Maryellen Giger, one of the pioneers in computer-aided detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. Prior to joining UTSW Andrew worked for GE Healthcare at Clarient in Pharma Services and at a Dallas-based big-data tech startup as a data scientist.
