Ethics in Artificial Intelligence (AI) (EM2609C)
The Ethics in AI Symposium was hosted virtually on October 8, 2025, by the Ethics in AI Interest Group at UT Southwestern Medical Center. This event aimed to bring together professionals from diverse disciplines across the institution to share perspectives on artificial intelligence and examine the ethical considerations surrounding its applications in clinical practice, medical education, research, and Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (IPCP) professionals. Recordings from the symposium have been developed into an on-demand, accredited enduring material activity designed for clinicians and healthcare professionals in any specialty who are interested in contributing to safe, equitable, and responsible AI integration in health care.

- Describe in plain language what AI is, common use cases in healthcare/education, and identify where human judgment remains essential.
- Recognize key ethical principles (privacy, fairness, transparency, accountability) and spot simple red flags in a variety of scenarios involving AI.
- Practice a basic decision flow to determine when to use, pause, or escalate review of an AI tool, including how to document concerns and who to notify.
