Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy Training Program: 12/01/16-12/02/16 (RP1612B)

Dallas, TX US
December 1, 2016 to December 2, 2016

The primary focus of this two day, CME course is to help oncology professionals in both large and small centers, including both academic and community practice, learn about the proper implementation of a viable and effective SBRT treatment practice.

Covered topics include the evolution of SBRT (from its roots in image-guided 3-D conformal therapy and radiosurgery, toward ablation of tumors in the body), guidelines for conducting proper treatment, billing and compliance, physics, and dosimetry, with attention to the unique requirements of SBRT beyond conventional radiotherapy and IMRT.

Clinical outcomes and treatment patterns in spine, liver, lung, GI, and GU cancers, as well as a description of various treatment platforms in clinical operation, are also included.

Target Audience

Radiation oncologists, medial physicists, medical dosimetrists, administrators, and radiation therapists interested in implementing Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) into clinical practice are encouraged to attend this program.

Learning Objectives

  • Examine the rationale and basic biology for delivering ablative doses of radiation to demarcated tumors using stereotactic body radiation therapy and image-guided techniques through a didactic and hands-on approach.
  • Describe mature clinical data on which treatment might be indicated on or off protocol.
  • Present treatment delivery options for both large and small centers interested in starting a clinical SBRT program.
  • Describe and perform simulations and observe SBRT treatments.
  • Describe quality assurance and regulatory compliance requirements for carrying out a clinical SBRT program.
