Autism Spectrum Disorders Throughout the Lifespan

This program is open to providers as well as any community or family members interested in learning about emerging research and treat-ments related to Autism Spectrum Disorder.

A lifespan development approach will be used to look at the challenges and successes associated with ASD. Presenters will review exciting new advances that translate from the lab into practice, as well as the importance of early identification and interventions.

Myths regarding ASD treatments will also be addressed. In addition, the impact of ASD beyond the early developmental period will be reviewed by looking at the challenges of ASD during puberty and the need for ongoing services into adulthood.

 

 

 

Target Audience

This course is designed for primary care specialists, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, residents, fellows, students, and other providers interested in autism spectrum disorders.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this symposium, the participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the impact of early identification and diagnosis on ASD outcomes
  • Describe the impact of current research findings on developing therapies
  • Identify challenges associated with ASD during puberty and adulthood
  • Describe current evidence-based treatments for autism spectrum disorder
