Physician Financial Interests and CMS Open Payments (RP2004E)

This session will present material relevant to CMS Open Payments, a federally mandated program whereby drug and device manufacturers report payments made to physicians and teaching hospitals.  The session will review the history of open payments, the current requirements for open payments, how to navigate the Open Payments web site, and how physicians can review payments attributed to them as well as how to dispute inappropriately attributed payments.

Physicians (M.D./D.O.), dentists, chiropractors, and podiatrists who work at and/or are affliated with UT Southwestern Medical Center.

After this session,  physicians will the able to:

1) Describe the history of CMS Open Payments and its requirements
2) Dispute and defend inappropriately attributed payments.
3) Navigate the Open Payments system and keep their information up-to-date
4) Explain the public's perception and their use of Open Payments data.
