The Target Newsletter: Accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI): options and new horizons (EM1509A)

Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women after skin cancer. Depending on the location of the tumor and patient breast size, breast conservation therapy is usually an option for many women instead of mastectomy. This course examines the rationale and accepted standard treatments for partial breast irradiation (interstitial brachytherapy, intracavitary brachytherapy, intraoperative radiation and via 3-D external beam radiation therapy), and additionally discusses novel treatment options still under investigation including CyberKnife and GammaPodTM.
