Purpose and OverviewIn this lecture we will review the impact of federal and local policies on dialysis care for undocumented immigrants. We will also cover basics of peritoneal dialysis (PD), patient selection considerations and ways to expand use of PD as an incident dialysis modality. Finally, we will discuss efforts by the Parkland PD program to improve access to care, reduce risks of peritonitis and future directions for growth, collaborations and quality improvement.

The Performance Excellence and Quality Management course was established with the goal of providing faculty and staff with the tools needed to initiate and maintain change. The purpose of this course is to provide healthcare professionals and staff with the skills and knowledge required to lead Quality Improvement (QI) projects and change initiatives. The course emphasizes the use of a systematic process to assess the current process/state; determine the root cause of problems; and explore, test, and deploy solutions to make sustainable improvements.

This one-day live course is designed to provide practicing ophthalmologists a comprehensive day of updates and latest advances in the ophthalmology field. This 2-day in-person conference program will address the contemporary challenges and opportunities for addressing maternal health and women's health through didactic lectures, interactive Q&A sessions, and in-depth panel discussions. Attendees will learn how public health strategies and healthcare delivery innovations are applied to address gaps and disparities in many areas, including: fertility, maternal morbidity and mortality, cancer detection and treatment, nutrition, skin care, mental health and work-life balance.

This one and one-half day course will focus on state-of-the-art treatment protocols at Scottish Rite for Children (SRC) and current research conducted by the residents, fellows and staff physicians at SRC. The program will utilize case presentations and question/answer format in addition to PowerPoint presentations. Faculty are also invited from across the country to share their research and practice protocols. Ample time will be allocated for discussion between audience and the faculty.
