Since their regulatory approval in 2008, there have been substantial improvements in LVAD technology, management, and understanding of prognosis. For over a decade, their has been a rise in the number of LVADs implanted to over 15,000 implants. Therefore, LVADs are becoming more prevalent in routine clinical practice and continued educational updates are necessary.
