[2:15pm - 3:15pm] Session 6: Developing Simulation-based Educational Scholarship (10 participants max)

This workshop is designed to promote the development of education scholars – a key initiative within UT Southwestern’s six-year strategic plan. Faculty often struggle to find the mentorship, training and resources needed to support their advancement. Participants will share barriers and enablers they have experienced on the path to publishing their work and gaining recognition via local and regional small grant programs. Faculty will gain a better understanding of some proven strategies and emerging opportunities for building academic portfolios capable supporting their aspirations and promotion on the Clinician Educator Track.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe at least 5 common barriers clinician educators face when designing and publishing educational activities using existing resources
  • Assemble a list of campus resources you can use to initiate educational activities capable of creating generalizable knowledge
  • List common strategies faculty can use to secure funding by local and regional small grant programs
  • Identify an opportunity on campus that could support your development as an education scholar this year.
  • Build a marketing plan that demonstrates your value to the education community locally, regionally and/or nationally
