Andrea Almaguer-Botero, PhD, LPC, LCDC-I

Dr. Andrea P. Almaguer-Botero, LPC, LCDC-I, has a master’s degree in counseling psychology with a bilingual counselor certification from Texas A&M International University. Dr. Almaguer-Botero earned her PhD in Rehabilitation Counseling at The University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley in May 2020. Dr. Almaguer-Botero has worked as a professional counselor in different types of settings such as immigration and refugee centers, substance abuse clinics, schools and hospitals providing trauma and crisis counseling. Dr. Almaguer-Botero has also taught several bilingual undergraduate and graduate courses in the UT system and focused her research in mental health, mindfulness, trauma, spirituality, immigration and substance use. Currently, Dr. Almaguer-Botero’s works in Restore Behavioral Health a multidisciplinary behavioral health practice offering neurological innovative interventions and in the neonatal intensive care unit department at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance providing mothers of NICU babies with crisis, trauma and bereavement counseling.
