Simulation 101-Faculty Development (RP1904B)

January 29, 2019 to January 29, 2021

The Simulation Center Faculty Development Committee has developed an asynchronous course for faculty who would like to learn more about facilitating Simulation, or are new to simulation. The course consist of three components, a Journal/Reading component, online modules, and a two day face to face workshop. The course will span about 3 months, ending with the face to face component. 

Target Audience

The target audience for this program includes UT Southwestern physician faculty, fellows and residents who would like to learn more about facilitating Simulation, or are new to simulation.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  1. Define simulation modalities that are useful in simulation-based education methodologies, 
  2. Describe the theoretical underpinnings of simulation-based education, 
  3. Explain the importance of debriefing/reflective techniques and list techniques for debriefing with good judgement 
  4. Describe at least 5 team-behaviors crucial to functional teaming behaviors and 
  5. Develop and execute a simulated experience with discreet learning objectives and constructive debrief

Required Hardware/software

 

This other blended educational activity is comprised the following three components which must be completed in the following order to receive up to a maximum of 23.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM :

  1. Simulation 101-Online Modules and Required reading  (Online modules, Journal Articles and Discussion Board accessible in D2L.)
  2. Simulation 101- Two-Day Workshop (Live , Face-to-Face at the UT Southwestern Simulation Center)

Upon completion of  the Two-Day Workshop the participant will be required to complete a brief CME evaluation to determine the degree to which the learning objectives were met.
