ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

The Brain Summit 2024 Symposium: Current Trends in Neurology is a one-day live CME activity designed for neuroscience professionals - including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and physical therapists - to explore latest advances and current trends in neurology clinical practice and patient care.  Didactic presentations, case studies, and panel discussions will present the most current information and address clinical practice challenges for advancing proper diagnosis and best treatment modalities across a wide spectrum of neurological disorders.

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and physical therapists in the specialty of Neurology.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  • Distinguish key presenting features of various movement disorders, including neurodegenerative conditions and employ appropriate diagnostic techniques and criteria to accurately diagnose different movement disorders.
  • Identify the key clinical features and presenting signs of uncommon strokes, including those caused by rare etiologies such as vasculitis, dissection, thrombophilia, and genetic disorders.
  • Discuss symptom management and the use of disease modifying therapy in the aging MS population.
  • Evaluate appropriate diagnostic evaluation and treatment for patients presenting with refractory seizures.
  • Identify the key clinical features of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), including unexplained gait abnormality, cognitive impairment, and urinary incontinence, especially in patients with MRI scans showing enlarged ventricles.
  • Summarize recent advances in the diagnosis and management of neuro-oncological conditions, including the discovery of new molecular targets.
  • Evaluate appropriate diagnostic imaging study for patients with neurological disorders; Recognize patterns on imaging studies to accurately diagnose and treat patients.
  • Describe the variable prognosis of different demyelinating polyneuropathies to provide informed and effective patient counseling and management.
  • Describe the underlying pathophysiology of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient education.
