Parkland's Evaluation and Management Services Course (JS2002D-091819)
Evaluation and management (E/M) services are one of the most frequently used services by physicians and advanced practice providers for documenting services provided in the inpatient and outpatient settings. For example, on the inpatient side E/Ms can include patient admission H&Ps, critical care, rounding and discharge visits. On the outpatient side E/Ms are used for new and established patient visits. This two-part training series of 45 minutes each will be led by physicians and advanced practice providers referencing current CMS based documentation requirements along with de-identified patient care service examples.
Learning Objectives
- Identify and discuss the requirements for properly documenting evaluation and management services.
- Assess the number and type of payer claim denials for E/M services by patient financial service staff
