This course will present current concepts in cardio-oncology, a bridging discipline at the intersection of cardiovascular medicine, hematology and oncology. The course will describe strategies to recognize and manage cardiovascular risks and complications in patients with cancer and cancer survivors. The format will include interactive case-based discussions and didactic lectures presented by national and regional expert faculty. The material presented in this course will be applicable to all practitioners involved in the care of patients undergoing or with a prior treatment for cancer and at risk or with active cardiovascular conditions.
Target Audience
This course is designed for General Practitioners and specialists in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Hematology-Oncology, Advanced Practice Providers, Nurses, Residents, and Fellows in training.
Learning Objectives
- Identify and discuss cardiovascular risks in cancer patients before treatment with potentially cardiotoxic cancer therapy
- Recognize the appropriate diagnostic and treatment methods for different cardiotoxic complications
- Identify key components for maintaining cardiovascular health after cancer treatment
